Peter Jordan, Ed.D.Welcome to Tarrant County College(TCC) South Campus!
It is at the South Campus that the Tarrant County College District started over forty years ago. Today, our campus serves four school districts and 18 high school ISD sites including: Fort Worth, Everman, Crowley and Kennedale along with 10 area charter and private schools. In January 2013, TCC officially opened the Crowley South Campus Center at the Bill R. Johnson Career and Technology Education Center. This Center brings credit and continuing education offerings closer to members of southwestern Tarrant County who may have challenges reaching the South Campus. Regardless of your aspirations, our faculty and staff stand ready to help you identify and achieve your educational goals.
Get ready for college – From our College for Kids (C4K, grades 2-8) summer program to year-round dual credit courses for high school students, we offer an array of opportunities for youth to enrich their academic backgrounds and prepare for college. Our dual credit program offers over 30 college-level courses to high school juniors and seniors who may earn credit toward a TCC degree. Our on-campus and community-based testing, assessment and college readiness programs allow students to prepare for and take standardized and placement tests. We also help students complete interest inventories for college entrance.
Earn an associate degree or a credit/non-credit certificate – Our campus offers three transfer degrees: Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) and Associate of Science (AS). We also offer Associate of Applied Science degrees in 22 technical workforce program areas as well as 29 certificates of completion. These technical programs include: automotive technology, welding, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration technology, computer-aided design and electronics. Other workforce certificate and licensing options include: massage therapy, insurance, real estate and entrepreneurship. Our senior education program affords retired seniors the opportunity to take up new interests and develop new skills such as: ballroom dancing, computer applications and new media, including social networking.
Opportunities for recreation and culture – Our fitness, aquatics and recreation facilities, performing arts center, and recital hall afford the community countless opportunities to engage in no- or low-cost recreation and cultural activities. Whether your passion is for aerobics, swimming or fitness training, we have a class for you. If you are a fan of the arts, you may enjoy student performances by the Carillon Players, the Velocity Dance Company, the TCC South Campus Jazz Singers and Band, and year-round gallery exhibits featuring works by students, faculty and artists from around the globe.
At South Campus, you will find a learning community that thrives on TCC Values of excellence, diversity, innovation and lifelong learning. Here, you will find an environment that is high tech with talented students studying in one of our 54 degree or certificate programs, which puts them in high demand by four-year colleges, universities and employers. About the Company:
Tarrant County College was established by a countywide election on July 31, 1965, as Tarrant County Junior College, the name change coming in 1999. The South Campus opened in 1967, followed by Northeast (1968), Northwest (1976), Southeast (1996) and Trinity River Campus (2009). The Trinity River Campus East for Health Care Professions opened in downtown Fort Worth, just blocks away from the Trinity River Campus, in the fall of 2011. The College District is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees elected for staggered six-year terms in single member districts.
Enrollment growth has been steady throughout recent years. The South Campus, at 4,772, had the largest opening-day enrollment of any community college in the nation up to that time. Overall credit student enrollment passed the 20,000 mark in 1980 and exceeded 50,000 in the fall of 2011. As of 2012, TCC is the sixth-largest college or university in Texas.
